This is a(-nother) portrait of my cat Bessy, shot in April 2006. Ain't he cute just after waking up?

As Bessy likes sleeping on his chair by the window, in this photo the window acted as a nice softlight that really lets the fur shine.

…who is the fairest of them all?

My model is wearing a ring with the famous fairy-tale theme. There is a mirror mounted on a wall-shaped ring which has a brick-like texture.

I especially like the reflection in the eye. It's like an reflection within a reflection. Inception-style. :-)

I invited a friend over to create some (more or less commissioned) photography work. During the shoot which was mostly inside the sun came up and I had a chance to photograph her wearing her new coat in warm sunlight. Missions accomplished! :)

Bellflower After Shower

I finally took the time to take some pictures from the Botanic Garden in Heidelberg. I cross it daily on my way to the lectures, but couldn't find the time to go shooting there.
As the day was cloudy with a few rain showers, it softened the light and provided for strong colours.
This bellflower, with its violet calyx sprinkled in rain droplets, grabbed my attention and turned out to be a fine model.

Mosaic Lamp

This is a close-up of a lamp I saw at the market at the Heidelberger Herbst 2011 Festival. It has beautiful mosaic work and the lamp inside provides a warm glow. The shallow depth of field of the macro-lens accentuates the details while giving the background a nice blur.

It was an interesting experience standing in a geometrical white dip where the passerby could observe you.

A Walk in Frozen Nature

In January 2007, it was very cold, plants and puddles froze over. This, with the rising sun, created a stunning view. People brought the only motion and life that you would encounter, nature went into a slumber.
